To know me, is to know that I am an excessive shopper. I love to shop. When people ask me what do I do? My reply is shop. Being a self employed/stay-at-home mom has its financial challenges and I am forced to find ways to save on buying things the high end, high quality items that I adore. In this article I will share my top five ways I save on fashion and beauty items.
Do you have one main place to shop? I love to shop at Nordstrom’s (Nordie’s). Strategy #1: Get to know the staff and/or manager! They will tip you off on private events, public sales and they save items they know for sure I will purchase for me and call me when it’s marked down. I have saved SO much money on high end items from Nordstrom, it’s unreal. At Marshall’s I have befriended a young lady who knows what brands I like and she stores them in the layaway room for me to check out (hot off the truck) because she knows I am coming in every Friday.
Love your search engines! Strategy #2: Google for coupons. For example, if you know you are looking for a Coach bag, go to your favorite search engine and simply search for: “coach bag coupons.”
Strategy #3: Join your favorite store’s email listserv, stay on top of bloggers who blog about items you like. This is another way to get early sale information.
Strategy #4: Shop sample sales. One can save up to 75% off designer clothes, shoes and accessories. Many of the sample sale sites require you to sign up and some will even alert you for your specific size or items wanted.
Be patient…strategy #5: after four to six weeks, stores need to move the merchandise. If you love it but can’t afford it at that time, you can do two things: ask the manager when they will mark it down (many of them know in advance and will easily share this information) or simply check back in four weeks for the markdown.
